Sultangaliyeva Gulmira, doctor of historical science, professor.She graduated from the History Department (1981) and Graduate school (1987–1990) of al-Farabi KazNU. From 1985 to 2009 she worked at Aktobe State University. She went from Assistant, Senior lecturer to Head of the "History of Kazakhstan" Department (1990–1995), Dean of the History Faculty (1996– 2004; 2006–2009) and Vice-rector of Scientific Work and International Relations (2004-2006) at the K. Zhubanov Aktobe State University. Since September 2009, She has been promoted to Professor of the History of Kazakhstan’ Department at the al-Farabi Kazakh National University, and in July 2016 she was elected to the position of the Department of World History, Historiography and Source Science’s Head. On October 19, 1990, defended her Ph.D. thesis on "The Economic and Cultural Relations of the Kazakh People with the Peoples of the Middle Volga and the Southern Urals of the 19th and 19th centuries", and on February 28, 2003 – Doctoral Thesis at al-Farabi KazNU on the theme: "Western Kazakhstan in the system of ethnocultural contacts (18th-19th centuries). In 2018, G.S. Sultangalieva became an Ambassador of the University of Hokkaido (Sapporo, Japan) in Kazakhstan. From 2020, she is a member of the Editorial board of the international peer- reviewed scientific journal “Central Asian Survey”, a board member of the “European Society of Central Asian Researchers” (ESCAS).
